Architecture principles
These principles guide CodeVelo's software and infrastructure work.
Clear ownership
Every system and data domain should have an identifiable source of truth. Applications may present or enrich shared information without silently becoming competing authorities.
Shared foundations, bounded responsibilities
Identity, authorization, secrets, storage, notifications, and audit behavior should be consistent across products. Individual services remain focused on their own operational responsibilities.
Traceable delivery
Important context should survive the transition from discovery to scope, execution, handoff, and support. Decisions and artifacts should be connected to the work they govern.
Secure defaults
Credentials and privileged configuration do not belong in source code. Access should be limited by role and service responsibility, and sensitive activity should be auditable.
Operational visibility
Systems should expose enough health, performance, and event information to support real operations. Monitoring and documentation are part of delivery, not optional additions.
Maintainability over novelty
Choose technology based on operational fit, supportability, and ownership. Prefer clear contracts and replaceable integrations over unnecessary coupling.
Practical portability
Where reasonable, application contracts should avoid unnecessary dependence on a single provider. Portability is valuable when it reduces operational risk without obscuring the system.
